NATURAL, ECONOMICAL, EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT WAY TO CONTROL ODOR EMISSIONS
The main task of the filter is to remove odors from polluted air.
Odors are volatile chemical compounds, both organic and inorganic, that are sensed by the olfactory receptors at very low concentrations and detected by the brain as unpleasant.
HAFbio can be delivered in two versions:
1. for chilled air purification
2. for hot air cleaning
HAFbio filter is built in a container form with external dimensions of 2.6 x 2.7 x 2.1 to 3.6 m.
In the standard version:
Filter segment housings, partitions and accessories are made of plastic (polypropylene) with a structure ensuring adequate: stiffness and thermal insulation (external walls) as well as durability and resistance to changing weather conditions.
The load-bearing elements of the structure are made of acid-resistant steel.

How does HAFbio work?
HAFbio is a complex biocatalyst or bioreactor. Microorganisms colonised in the filter bed transform odorous compounds into harmlessly odourless chemicals. The entire filtration process through HAFbio is based on gas passing through the successive layers of the beds.
In the standard HAFbio option, the first section of the bed is inoculated with microorganisms for which the odorous gasses are food.
Unlike activated carbon filters, HAFbio filters with the HaloSorb bed are not sensitive to moisture, they even require moist to be present at a certain level.
In the high-temperature version, the HaloSorb resin acts as a molecular sieve, absorbing the malignant compounds.
Microorganisms on the surface of the sorbent and inside the sorbent can decompose practically 100% of the malignant odours.
The main element of the HAFbio biological filter is a layer of porous filter material inhabited by microorganisms.
The filter bed is in replaceable segments. The bed in one segment has the dimensions of 2.6 mx 2.7 mx up to 0.45 m and in the basic version it contains the HALOSORB-B with the appropriate granulation.
EFFECTIVENESS OF THE HAFbio BIOFILTER

The effectiveness of the filter depends on:
- Beds – granulation and presence of appropriate cultures of microorganisms.
- the retention time of polluted air in the filtering bed, i.e. the speed of its flow through the bed.
HAFbio performance depends on:
- the deposit surface and
- the degree of air pollution.
On-site expansion is possible for satisfactory performance.
HAFbio operating parameters – effectiveness and efficiency can be regulated by:
increasing the number of sections (total bed thickness and thus the retention time of air in it). However, this action reduces performance.
adding further HAFbio modules, thus increasing the filtering surface of the device. Doing so increases efficiency.
One HAFbio standard module is assumed to have a capacity of 2000 to 6000 m3 / h. and depends on the degree of contamination of the cleaned air as well as the type of odors.
When cleaning air from ventilation systems, the efficiency is closer to the upper limit, while when cleaning process air (e.g. from a composting plant), the efficiency is closer to the lower limit.
HANDLING THE HAFbio BIOFILTER
The filter over time is subjected to natural wear, due to its sorption capacity and the air flow may decrease as well. This is caused by excessive growth of biological membranes due to various types of biological pollutants, liquids and dusts. After finding a significant reduction in efficiency and / or effectiveness of the HAFbio filter, the lowest filtering section should be replaced by lowering the higher one. After replacing the worn-out bed, the previously removed section should be placed on top.
